MEDICAL INITIATIVES

MEDICAL INITIATIVES

Our first medical clinic was organized in 2014, coordinated by Dr. Dale Coy, Kylie Mena and Ashley Quigley.  The goal of the medical clinic is to provide medical care to the families living in the garbage dump communities.

The medical clinic is a “traveling clinic” that sets up in community centers, open areas and in the garbage dump itself.  Our first HOPE’S IN Medical Team consisted of 3 doctors and several students pursuing careers in medicine. Supplies and medicine were collected from various doctors’ offices and a wonderful nonprofit called MedShare.  The medical clinic treated over 400 patients in one week.  In 2015, our medical clinic received a generous grant from Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital and Centegra Health System that provided supplies and medicine for our two week clinic.

Our HOPE IN Medical Team is growing and we are in the process of creating partnerships throughout the Barrington and Chicago area. Additionally, we have now expanded our efforts through annual medical grants that are given to different organizations that have outstanding medical initatives.
