MY BIRTHDAY
HOPE

Konicek

Having discovered the joy of the children and families served at the Guatemala City dump communities by HOPES IN, we’ve decided to return to Guatemala City to help provide families there the security offered by a home.

Last August we spent a week with families and some truly inspiring youth from our community with HOPE’S IN, an organization developed by Barrington area high school students that brings hope to the “treasures” of the Guatemala City garbage dump communities. Locals call them, scavengers. HOPE’S IN calls them God’s Treasures. HOPE’S IN brings teams of children and families to the Guatemala City garbage dump communities and builds homes for deserving families, giving them a sense of security, ownership, and pride. It costs approximately $7,500.00 to build a home, complete with electricity and plumbing.

Inspired by our week building a home for Teresa Rivera and her family last year, we will return to Guatemala City in August 2018. Our HOPE goal is to raise $7,500.00 or more to underwrite the cost of building a home dedicated by the Konicek Family for a  deserving family there.

Our experiences in the garbage dump communities has shown us the joy that can be brought to a family in need with just a little effort on our part. The experience was transformative and we received much more in return by being a small part of God’s Treasures in these communities. Please help us bring hope to the treasures of the Guatemala City Dump Community.

Many Blessings,

Marimarie & Frank Konicek and Colleen & Michael Hannigan
