Kirsten Raises Hope

"This past July, I was able to attend a mission trip with Hope's In and help build a home in Guatemala for the Lopez family. I got to watch my house team change a family’s life. We take for granted all the things we have here; to empower a family with a sink with running water, a toilet to flush, and a shower to rinse off in at night is a gift. Thankfully, there’s no more rain water filling their home because it’s sturdy enough now and there’s new cement floors which means no more dropping food/towels/clothes and getting dirt on. Also there’s a door with a lock at night for safety! Totally priceless! I am forever blessed by this wonderful experience. I hope next year some of you will want to join me." -Kirsten

This year I have made it my goal to empower a family living in Guatemala City through the gift of a new home. 

I hope to raise money for the 501(c)(3) organization, HOPE’S IN, as I believe that they positively change the lives of the people living in Guatemala. HOPE’S IN has been working to empower families in Guatemala for the past 7 years. Their programs focus on community development projects like building homes, special education, empowering teen mothers, medical care and raising up the next generation of humanitarian leaders. 

Specifically, my goal is to raise $7,500.00 or more to help build a home for a family living in the garbage dump communities of Guatemala City. The cost of a home in these communities ranges from $5700-7500. I know that what I fundraise will make a difference and empower a family with a dignified, safer home! 

I can’t wait for next summer, I hope to join HOPE’S IN again! I learned so much from the people of Guatemala and am excited to continue making an impact!
