Desmond got involved with our work when Courtney McGovern presented HOPE’S IN to a Mother Daughter volunteer group that she and her daughter, Gianna, are members of called the Barrington Service League. Desmond says: “We were absolutely inspired by Courtney and Ashley’s important and impactful work and we committed to signing up for the next Hope’s In volunteer trip in the summer of 2016. We have participated in the organization and joined the volunteer service trips every year since then. I am so thankful for the impact that Hope’s In has made in both Gianna and myself as individuals but perhaps even more importantly in our relationship as a mother and daughter. We have learned so much together from the extraordinarily loving and resilient people that we have been blessed to work alongside of in Zone 3. It has truly been a life changing gift for our family to open our eyes, minds and hearts to our friends in Zone 3.
It’s so hard to choose a favorite memory from Guatemala as there are so many to treasure. One gift that comes to mind is how over the years my daughter has become like a big sister to our sponsored child in Guatemala. Watching their friendship blossom over the years has been so wonderful to experience. These are lifelong memories for us
all to cherish.”
