When Mikayla told us last year that she wanted to raise money to build a house of her own for Hope’s In, we were both extremely proud, yet a bit hesitant. We both know it’s a big ask, when trying to get friends, family & beyond to support a cause, yet, we have experienced, first hand, the rewards of delivering keys to a family. Building a home with and for them is an annual experience we can’t seem to live without.
Taking what we have for granted is no longer, thanks to Mik and her desire to go back, year after year, to make this happen. Through family illness, financial pressure, whatever the years may bring, we feel the need, the draw, the calling to keep going back.
Now that we have seen and emotionally experienced the ties that bind Mikayla to raising money, building and, finally, delivering a home in her name, we can’t say no. This past summer was one of the best of our lives. We smiled, laughed, cried (maybe even sobbed), and felt unparalleled emotions. Like Mik says, we want to feel that again…. and again & again & again!
Thanks for supporting this amazing gift of a child we have been blessed with, thanks for supporting her dreams and letting her see the good in this sometimes wicked world and the greatest thanks for being YOU! Kind, generous YOU, who can make dreams come true.
