Each year HOPE’S IN leads volunteers on a service trip to Guatemala City to work in Zone 3 of Guatemala City for one of two weeks in August.
Our focus in Guatemala City is on projects such as building homes, hosting medical clinics and spending time with our sponsored 2nd and 3rd grade classrooms in Zone 3. Over 13,000 people live in Zone 3 and are either partially or completely reliant on the city’s garbage dump for means of survival. These projects are done through our partnership with the organization Potter’s House Association. During our week in Guatemala, we not only serve wonderful families but we also are focused on the development of the next generation of humanitarian leaders. Families and student volunteers join us on this trip and/or help us plan for the trip throughout the year.
Our belief is that service gives people an opportunity for a more purposeful life, a way to discover personal talents and passions, and allows people to act compassionately. We hope you will consider joining us on our mission to Guatemala in 2017!
