“Yesterday the local nonprofit organization, HOPE’S IN, hosted a sold-out event, Tea With Me. The event’s goal was to celebrate women in our community while raising money for their organization. Over 90 guests attended the mother/daughter tea party for a memorable afternoon. The proceeds from the event are being used for HOPE’S IN’s new program to empower children with disabilities living in Guatemala City. “Five financial advisers and two firms won leadership awards at the 12th annual Invest in Others Awards last Thursday for their charitable initiatives and corporate philanthropy. Presented by the Invest in Others Charitable Foundation, the awards program recognized advisers in five different categories. Winners this year received $40,000 for their respective charities, and finalists received awards of $10,000. The winner of the Lifetime Achievement Award received $50,000 for his charity. “Local students brought stunning fashions to life at this year’s Hope’s in Style fashion show fundraising event with nearly 300 in attendance. The exciting day featured speeches by local middle school students, raffles, auctions, a panel discussion by volunteers impacted by the program, and awards. Annual HOPE’S IN Award Empowers Next Generation of Humanitarian Leaders

“Two Barrington High School students were announced as winners of the 2nd annual HOPE’S IN Humanitarian Award during the organization’s 6th annual fashion show fundraiser. Thanks to the award, Sophomore Kelly Speichinger and Senior Maureen Kozlowski are headed to Guatemala City this summer to help HOPE’S IN volunteers build homes for families living in Zone-3, a garbage dump community. Graduating early from New York University, McGovern came back to take on the role of Executive Director of Hopes In. “Local High School students poured into Stonegate Banquet & Conference Center last Sunday eager to support their friends modeling or responsible for styling this year’s 5th Annual Hope’s In Style Fashion Show. Started by Courtney & Ashley Quigley when they were students at Barrington High School, the show continues to be one of the most popular charitable events drawing teens. This year over 300 people of all ages filled the seats around the runway.
