“Hope’s In is a non-profit organization that raises money to build safe shelters for families in desperate need of a stable home. One house costs between $5,500-$7,500 to construct. Gianna’s birthday goal was to raise $500 for material costs for one house, which friends and family have generously helped her surpass.

Gianna’s mom, Courtney Keuer, said that Gianna has done this before after the devastating earthquake hit Haiti in 2010. “Gianna felt sad that all these kids’ toys and books were destroyed and she wanted to send them her toys. We decided that instead of getting new toys for her 4th birthday, we would raise money for the kids in Haiti to help them rebuild their lives.”’
