Hello Hope’s In community,
Our team is off to an incredible start! We met the families we are building houses with this week and had successful first days for our medical and sports clinics. Today was very impactful and our eyes are being opened to the reality of the people living in the garbage dump communities. Though we discussed some of the things that broke our hearts today, we all agreed that there is an undeniable sense of joy in the people we are getting to know. Below are some notes to you from two of our volunteers!
“This is the first year I traveled to Guatemala with the Hope’s In’s team, and the first day could not have gone better! Something that impacted me the most was how friendly the people were. During the soccer clinic I was playing with the kids, and despite our slight language barrier we still had a great time. Anderson, who is a 7 year old boy who I played with, was especially friendly with me! We didn’t have to speak much to know that we both had a blast spending time with each other! I’m looking forward to the rest of the week and hope everyone is doing well!”

“Hello everyone at home!
I just want to start off by thanking everyone involved in making this happen. I found out about this mission trip early this year and I am very happy that I made the decision to come here to Guatemala and help serve the community. Today was our first day and I was very excited to start. This is my first mission trip, so I went into the day unsure of what to expect and I was so happy with how things turned out. Everyone in the communities were so welcoming to us and the people at Potter’s House were so nice and helpful. I am apart of House 1 and when we met our family, it was really amazing to see how grateful they were to have us there. The 2 year old boy apart of our family even helped us out almost the entire second half of the day. I am so blessed to have been given this experience and I can’t wait for what the rest of the week will bring us!”

These experiences are so impactful. Have an awesome evening!
